(July 1, 2020) – Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchising company with 9,300 hotels across approximately 90 countries, today announced plans to further expand its La Quinta® by Wyndham brand with the addition of two new hotels in Turkey: the 86-room La Quinta by Wyndham Giresun and the 175-room, La Quinta by Wyndham Bodrum.
The new hotels join the previously announced 404-room La Quinta by Wyndham Istanbul Gunesli—the first La Quinta hotel to open outside of the Americas—and are the latest in a string of international signings and openings since Wyndham acquired the brand in May of 2018.
Earlier this year, Wyndham announced plans to open two new La Quinta hotels in New Zealand, marking the arrival of the brand in Asia Pacific; and just last year, announced plans to open eight new La Quinta hotels in the Dominican Republic, four of which are currently under development. They build on the brand’s existing portfolio of 14 hotels throughout Latin America. Globally, the brand has opened 55 new hotels since its acquisition.
“When La Quinta joined the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts family, we saw strong potential to expand the brand internationally and we are delighted to see its continued growth in Europe and around the world,” said Dimitris Manikis, president, EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “These exciting properties on Turkey’s charming coastline support our growth ambition and perfectly complement our other offerings in the market.”
The new additions in Turkey—where Wyndham is the largest international hotel company with over 80 hotels—include two contemporary properties with central locations in the Black Sea coastal town of Giresun, as well as in Bodrum, one of Turkey’s most popular and trendy seaside gateways. World’s largest hotel franchisor taps into powerful conversion engine, welcomes independent hoteliers to benefit from support and power of scale behind the brand
PARSIPPANY, N.J. (June 8, 2020) – Wyndham Hotels & Resorts – the world’s largest hotel franchising company with approximately 9,300 hotels across 90 countries – is expanding its soft-branded Trademark Collection by Wyndham®, the fastest-growing brand in the Company’s portfolio, with new hotels across the U.S., Canada and Germany.
The brand’s latest openings include Cantilever Hotel, a Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel in Ranier, Minn.; The Eureka Inn, a Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel in Eureka, Calif.; Lakeview Signature, a Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and H+ and H4 Trademark Collection hotels in Leipzig, Germany. The Bridgewater Hotel, a Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel in Fairbanks, Alaska is scheduled to open next month.
“Trademark Collection continues to grow rapidly with independently minded owners around the world,” said Geoff Ballotti, president and CEO, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “That growth is not only a testament to Trademark’s value as one of the most compelling soft branded options out there for independent hoteliers, but also the value of Wyndham, which brings recognition, distribution and loyalty in a time when travelers are looking to names and brands they trust for their future vacations.”
Trademark Collection’s global pipeline comprises more than 8,400 rooms. The brand recently celebrated the start of construction on a new Trademark Collection by Wyndham hotel in Leavenworth, Kan., which will be a creative re-adaptation of a former parochial school and is expected to open in the third quarter of 2020.
Backed by Wyndham Trademark Collection by Wyndham is the Company’s fastest-growing brand, and experienced a 19% growth in rooms year-over-year as of December 31, 2019. The growth comes at a time when soft brands have strong appeal for independent owners seeking the support of a branded partner as the travel industry prepares for recovery of domestic, leisure travel. With Trademark Collection, hoteliers gain access to Wyndham’s 83 million Wyndham Rewards loyalty members and the company’s global distribution network without having to sacrifice their properties’ own unique branding and identities. As a leader in economy and midscale lodging, Wyndham is uniquely positioned to champion hoteliers in these segments, helping them compete in an ever-changing distribution environment with brand-backed support.
With over 15,000 independent economy and midscale hotels in the U.S., converting independent hotels to Wyndham brands remains an important source of consistent rooms. Wyndham has a proven track record of growing net rooms during lodging cycle downturns, fueled by the strong value proposition across its portfolio of well-known brands. In the first quarter, Wyndham’s conversion pipeline increased 8% globally year-over-year.
Owner-First Approach The success of its owner base is critical to Wyndham’s business, and the Company is taking an owner-first approach to endurance and recovery in the wake of COVID-19 crisis. Wyndham is assisting owners by suspending certain fees, providing payment relief and deferring property improvement plans for nonessential brand standards in an effort to reduce operating costs in the near term while the industry recovers. The Company also took efforts to secure government assistance for franchisees, partnering with industry organizations to advocate on their behalf while guiding them through available relief, like the CARES act.
To support its franchisees as travel picks up again, Wyndham previously announced a long-term, multi-faceted initiative in the U.S. to build confidence among guests. The initiative, dubbed “Count on UsSM” will immediately focus on further elevating health and safety protocols at Wyndham hotels in the wake of COVID-19, shoring up critical supply chains and introducing new standards, training and guidelines grounded in guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Wyndham has also expanded its relationship with industry leader Ecolab on requiring consistent use of Ecolab’s EPA-approved disinfectants in guestrooms and public spaces nationwide.
About Trademark Collection by Wyndham Each of Trademark Collection by Wyndham’s upper-midscale-and-above hotels around the world – from landmark hotels in Germany and Switzerland to its flagship hotel, The Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Ky. – boast three common attributes: character, charm, and individuality. Launched in 2017, Trademark Collection is the first soft-brand geared to three- and four-star hotel owners passionate about upholding their hotels’ independent spirit and designed for everyday travelers seeking distinctive, attainable accommodations in sought-after destinations. Economy and midscale lodging leader lays foundation for long-term growth, welcoming nearly a dozen new-construction hotels in Q1 and continuing to grow its new-build pipeline for the future
PARSIPPANY, N.J. (May 19,2020) – Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (NYSE:WH) – the world’s largest hotel franchising company with approximately 9,300 hotels across 90 countries – continues forging ahead with new-construction growth, opening 11 newly built hotels across the U.S. in the first quarter and breaking ground on a number of hotels in its new-construction pipeline. In the same period, the Company executed agreements for more than 25 future new-construction hotels in the U.S., further expanding its pipeline and planting roots for travel recovery in the long term.
Welcoming New Openings
The Company’s 11 new-construction openings in the U.S. represent nearly 1,000 rooms. The recent openings, including properties across its La Quinta® by Wyndham, Wingate by Wyndham®, Days Inn® by Wyndham, and Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham® brands, are situated in destinations primed for domestic, drive-to leisure travel such as Miramar Beach, Fla.; Houston, Texas; Spokane, Wash.; and Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
Laying Foundation for the Future
Developers are also starting construction on hotels in the pipeline, reinforcing optimism for the industry’s recovery. Developers for Wyndham-branded hotels broke ground on approximately 10 new hotels in the U.S. year-to-date, including a Microtel hotel in Hot Springs, Ark.; a La Quinta hotel in San Antonio, Texas; an extended-stay Hawthorn Suites hotel in Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a Trademark Collection by Wyndham® hotel in Leavenworth, Kan.
“Despite a rapidly changing landscape for hotel developers around the world, a number of our owners are pressing forward with new-construction projects in the economy and midscale segments, reinforcing our overall confidence in the long-term viability of our industry,” said Krishna Paliwal, head of Architecture, Design and Construction for Wyndham. “New-construction growth, however gradual, represents our optimism for the future of travel. Not only do our highly recognizable brands provide significant value to hotel owners who join the Wyndham family, especially during difficult times, but they also represent the consistent, trusted and affordable experience travelers will be seeking now more than ever before.”
Igniting the Conversion Engine
Though construction has generally slowed across the industry, Wyndham continues to welcome new projects while igniting its powerful conversion engine, which is fueled by the strong value proposition across its portfolio of well-known brands. In the first quarter, Wyndham’s conversion pipeline increased 8% globally year-over-year. The Company has a proven track record of growing net rooms during lodging cycle downturns and, with over 15,000 independent economy and midscale hotels in the U.S., converting independent hotels to Wyndham brands remains an important source of consistent rooms growth for the Company through both up and down cycles.
Well-Positioned for Recovery
The impact of COVID-19 continues to rapidly evolve and many factors remain uncertain. As the pandemic begins to abate in the U.S., Wyndham’s existing franchisees are likely to be well-positioned for recovery. The Company operates a nearly 90% drive-to business in the U.S. with a concentration in the select-service chain scale segments – which have outperformed higher end full service hotels during the pandemic – and over 95% of its domestic guests originate within the U.S., making them less reliant on air travel.
Wyndham also recently announced “Count on UsSM,” a new long-term, multi-faceted initiative to build confidence among guests and to support franchisees as it prepares to welcome travelers back to its U.S. hotels. The initiative will immediately focus on further elevating health and safety protocols at Wyndham hotels in the wake of COVID-19, shoring up critical supply chains and introducing new standards, training and guidelines grounded in guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Wyndham has expanded its relationship with industry leader Ecolab on requiring consistent use of Ecolab’s EPA-approved disinfectants in guestrooms and public spaces nationwide.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchising company with over 9,200 hotels and 20 brands in more than 80 countries, today announced the debut of its La Quinta® by Wyndham flag in Europe with the opening of the 404-room La Quinta by Wyndham Istanbul Gunesli, bringing the brand to travellers outside of the Americas for the first time.
La Quinta by Wyndham is a leading upper-midscale brand at over 900 hotels across North and Latin America, offering contemporary design, thoughtful amenities and friendly service. Wyndham acquired La Quinta’s hotel franchise and hotel management businesses in 2018, further building upon the Company’s diverse family of hotel brands and offerings around the world.
Upon acquiring the brand, Wyndham outlined strategic plans to introduce La Quinta to key markets around the world, offering a trusted upper-midscale option to both hotel developers and travellers. Its European debut in Istanbul demonstrates that commitment, and is the latest development in the brand’s international growth trajectory. In 2019 Wyndham announced plans to enter the Caribbean market by opening eight hotels across the Dominican Republic within five years, and it grew La Quinta’s footprint in Mexico and Chile in 2018 with newly constructed hotels in Leon and Santiago.
La Quinta by Wyndham Istanbul Gunesli is one of the latest additions to Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ presence in Turkey, where the Company is the largest international hotel group with over 80 hotels all across the country. As the country aims to attract 58 million visitors in 2020 alone, the addition of La Quinta further complements Wyndham’s brand offering in the market and marks another step in the Company’s quest to suit the need of any type of traveller.
Dimitris Manikis, President & Managing Director for EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are thrilled to welcome La Quinta and its long-standing reputation for delivering quality, reliability and a great guest experience to Europe, further expanding our offering of brands in such an important market like Turkey. When La Quinta joined the Wyndham family we saw tremendous opportunity to grow the brand internationally. With a record of over 13 million international visitors in 2018 alone and an incredible variety of historical, cultural and business sites, Istanbul is one of the world’s most attractive cities for travel, making it the perfect fit for La Quinta’s European debut.
With easy access to Istanbul International Airport and the city’s Expo Centre, La Quinta by Wyndham Istanbul Gunesli offers 404 guest rooms and a wide range of facilities including three restaurants, a fitness centre with sauna, Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, steam room and indoor heated pool. The hotel also includes over 1,500 square metres of meeting space, comprised of eight meeting rooms and one ballroom, catering to both leisure and business travel.
The opening of La Quinta by Wyndham Istanbul Gunesli further widens Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ brand offering in Turkey, including Ramada and Ramada Encore by Wyndham, Wyndham, Wyndham Grand, as well as TRYP and Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham.
Other Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ recent openings in Turkey include TRYP by Wyndham Istanbul Topkapi, Ramada Encore by Wyndham Istanbul Basin Express, Wyndham Grand Kayseri, Wyndham Cerkezkoy, as well as Ramada by Wyndham hotels in Van and Mardin.
La Quinta hotels around the world participate in Wyndham Rewards®, the company’s award-winning loyalty programme giving more than 79 million members globally a generous points-earning and redemption structure.

This major market location is one of five hotels across five states – including Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and California – to recently join the brand, further cementing Trademark Collection’s position as one of the fastest-growing soft brands in the hotel industry.
Located in the heart of Atlanta’s stylish Buckhead district, The Burgess Hotel recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation transforming the property into a sought-after boutique experience for travelers near the city’s main attractions and businesses. Updated features include 102 guest rooms with custom furniture and original artwork; a relaxing outdoor pool and courtyard; more than 1,200 square feet of meeting and event space; an on-site restaurant, Fia, inspired by the Mediterranean coast; and the chic Mr. B Bar.
Trademark Collection’s recent additions across the U.S. demonstrates Wyndham’s strategic efforts to steadily expand the soft brand in key markets domestically in the last year, during which the brand saw a 118 percent growth in number of rooms year over year, as of September 30, 2019. Wyndham also added to the brand’s international collection in 2019 – which saw an 18 percent growth year over year as of September 30, 2019 – welcoming its first Trademark Collection hotels in Mexico and Belize, and widening its existing presence in Canada.
“Notable additions like The Burgess Hotel in top destinations like Atlanta underscore the very essence of what we look for in a Trademark Collection hotel – unmatched character, charm, and individuality which draw in everyday travelers seeking authentic experiences,” said Greg Giordano, brand leader for Trademark Collection at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “The brand’s rapid development since its inception both here in the U.S. and abroad demonstrates its strong appeal as one of the most compelling soft-branded offerings for independent hoteliers. These landmark destinations are now backed by a leading hospitality name in Wyndham, as well as an ardent team keen on driving more travelers through hotel owners’ doors.”
Some of the newest locations to raise the Trademark Collection brand flag in the U.S. include:
Magic Village Views, a contemporary gated villa community in Kissimmee, Fla., situated steps from Walt Disney World® parks and sister Trademark Collection location Magic Village Yards;
Hotel Retlaw, a modern, luxurious throwback to the roaring 1920s in Fond du Lac, Wisc.;
Cantilever Hotel, a newly constructed hotel in Ranier, Minn., with industrial influences and an on-site distillery;
And the Bay Area’s Pacifica Lighthouse Hotel, just steps from the shores of Pacifica, Calif.
